General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking a Test Engineer to perform duties as a D448 Lab Manager for the Combat Weapons Systems Facility Management Group. In this role, you will support technical resolutions for complex construction issues on VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA Class Submarines, focusing on system operational testing, test execution, and evaluation of results while maintaining a prototypical hardware and software development lab.
What You'll Do
- Perform duties as a D448 Lab Manager for the Combat Weapons Systems Facility Management Group.
- Support technical resolutions for a variety of complex construction issues for VIRGINIA & COLUMBIA Class Submarines.
- Investigate and evaluate units and modules under various stages of construction.
- Support system operational testing, test execution, and evaluation of results.
- Maintain a prototypical hardware and software development lab.
- Coordinate with system engineers, deck plate technicians, government program offices, vendors, and military personnel for delivered submarines.
- Support engineering efforts extending to the analysis and resolution of fleet identified problems, assessment of obsolescence issues, and implementation of modernization programs.
- Work with facilities and vendors to perform repairs and normal maintenance on AC, power, and other aspects of a prototypical lab.
- Collaborate with EB Security to ensure physical security policies are met for the building.
- Communicate with EB Fire to disable sensor floor tiles to complete a job.
- Coordinate with EB IT to have new network or power drops installed within an area of a lab.
- Ensure proper security markings are placed on items being shipped out of the building.
- Arrange pickup and drop off of equipment with EB transportation and other vendors.
- Organize and complete material sightings required for Special Property requirements.
- Provide status reports and metrics to management and/or the customer as needed.
- Develop status and analyze department specific integrated project schedules to support task planning, identify conflicts, and ensure timely project completion.
What We're Looking For
- A High School diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of work experience in project management, facilities, or U.S. Military service.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the Department of Defense.
Nice to Have
- Prior deck plate construction experience.
- Electric Boat construction support experience.
