We're looking for a Telecommunications Designer to develop precise outside plant (OSP) designs for fibre and copper networks, primarily supporting deployment programs in Northern British Columbia, with a focus on the Prince George area. You'll translate planning data into construction-ready drawings and documentation, ensuring designs meet technical and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed OSP layouts for both aerial and underground fibre and copper networks
- Produce accurate, field-ready construction drawings and technical documentation
- Conduct site visits to verify existing infrastructure and validate design assumptions
- Collaborate with planners, engineers, and field crews to align design with project goals
- Maintain and update as-built records to reflect network changes
- Support regional network expansion and modernization initiatives across remote and rural locations
Qualifications
You bring 3 to 7+ years of hands-on experience in telecommunications OSP design. Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software is essential. You understand standard practices for outside plant infrastructure and can work independently while meeting project deadlines.
- Proven background in fibre network design and deployment
- Solid knowledge of OSP design principles and construction methods
- Experience conducting field surveys in northern or rural environments is an asset
- Familiarity with both aerial and underground installation techniques
- Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate across technical teams
- Current residence in or willingness to travel within the Prince George region
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for field work
Work Environment
This role operates in a hybrid work model with flexible scheduling. Site visits are required across Northern BC to support design accuracy and field coordination.
