Naimuri, part of QinetiQ, is hiring a Temporary Technical Writer for QinetiQ Target Systems Canada (QTSC). You'll be responsible for creating and updating critical technical publications for advanced uncrewed vehicle systems (UVS), supporting global defence operations from our Medicine Hat location.
What You'll Do
- Use specialized software (Adobe Framemaker) to create and update technical publications, including manuals, training courses, and engineering change control documents.
- Train and mentor junior staff.
- Recommend improvements to department procedures, work instructions, and standards.
- Review technical publications and change control documentation for inconsistencies and errors.
- Evaluate existing processes and workflows to identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure tasks are completed on time and within the specified budget.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- A Post-Secondary Engineering related certificate or higher from a recognized institution.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in the field.
- Proficiency in Technical Writing.
- Computer proficiency with Document Management Software and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Exposure to engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of integration processes (general assembly, tooling, order of operations).
- Must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada.
- Able to obtain a Canadian Class 2 Security clearance.
- Must have a clean background history and obtain a criminal record check.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Adobe Framemaker.
- Project Management knowledge.
- Aptitude in Drafting software (Autodesk Inventor experience is an asset).
- Aptitude in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
