Northwestern Memorial Healthcare is hiring a Technical Coordinator MRI to join our team. This full-time, days position ensures technical competence, develops clinical protocols, and facilitates operational activities critical to quality patient care and department function. You will perform all duties of a staff radiographer while assuming a lead role in daily operations and equipment performance.
What You'll Do
- Design and coordinate orientation programs for technical and assistant personnel.
- Train technical staff in applying clinical protocols and techniques.
- Develop training programs to apply evolving radiology techniques.
- Provide and coordinate technical in-service education programs.
- Provide technical assessment of job performance for employee performance appraisals.
- Assist in developing departmental and institutional policies and procedures.
- Coordinate equipment service, preventative maintenance schedule, and QM program.
- Develop rapport with the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) to ensure compliance.
- Participate in new product review and evaluation. Coordinate supply ordering.
- Maintain clinical status and staff the unit if and when needed.
- Function as the technical 'subject matter expert' for the section.
- Maintain current knowledge of all radiology imaging and patient care equipment.
- Monitor equipment log related to service and preventative maintenance.
- Report equipment failures and irregularities to the manager.
- Facilitate service calls to the proper repair company.
- Maintain communication with all radiologists to assure quality of service.
- Collaborate with manager and medical director on performance appraisals.
- Actively participate in the departmental Quality Improvement Plan.
- Manage the departmental Radiation Safety Program.
- Oversee technical quality standards.
- Participate in formal and informal process improvement and problem solving.
- Collect data to support quality management measurement and tracking.
What We're Looking For
- Graduate of an accredited school/college of Radiologic Technology.
- Graduated from an accredited educational program in radiography, radiation therapy, magnetic resonance, nuclear medicine, or diagnostic medical sonography.
- State of Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety License (IDNS/IEMA) required for those in Diagnostic Imaging (xray), CT, Mammography, Interventional Radiology, and Nuclear Medicine.
- CPR BLS certification through American Heart Association (AHA).
- Certification and registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Radiation Therapy, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Sonography or Mammography.
- OR Certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in Sonography or Vascular Technology.
- OR Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) in Nuclear Medicine.
- OR ARMRIT certification.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s Degree or 3 or more years of experience.
Team & Environment
Works under the direction of the Radiology Manager and in collaboration with the Medical Director of the section.
Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation: $47.75-$62.08 per hour.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position located at 251 E. Huron, Chicago, IL.
