NECSWS is hiring a Technical Author to deliver high-quality technical documentation for software applications. You'll start by contributing to scheduled enhancements on a larger project before taking ownership of at least one complete documentation project. In this role, you'll work closely with the Documentation Manager to improve the end-user experience and adopt new working methods.
What You'll Do
- Manage medium to exceptionally large documentation projects.
- Manage documentation projects in accordance with project deliverables.
- Write software user guides for various applications and services.
- Write the online help that accompanies the applications and services.
- Liaise with software developers, business analysts, and subject matter experts to understand the product and clarify technical aspects.
- Ensure documents meet expected quality standards.
- Deliver all relevant documentation in time for the software release.
- Travel to UK office locations occasionally for meetings as needed.
- Liaise with customers to identify where improvements to documentation can be made.
What We're Looking For
- A proven record of delivering high-quality technical documentation for software applications.
- Experience managing medium to large documentation projects.
- Ability to produce online help, user guides, system administration guides, training material, and release notes.
- Ability to produce 'How To' videos and 'Quick Start' guides.
- Willingness to complete the in-house Technical Author Skills program.
Team & Environment
You will join a team of authors based in various locations around the UK and India. The team is part of a larger documentation function responsible for a wide variety of software products, and you will report directly to the Documentation Manager.
Work Mode
This is a hybrid role open to candidates based in the UK or India.
