Responsibilities
- Provide remote and on-site support to country programs in developing competitive project proposals and enhancing technical excellence in nutrition.
- Play a key role in shaping theories of change, results frameworks, and technical components of proposals.
- Assist in-country leads in reviewing M&E and client feedback data to inform program design discussions.
- Engage in design meetings for all relevant project submissions to ensure technical rigor.
- Guide decisions on program delivery models and strategic partnerships based on evidence and local system integration.
- Review and validate technical design choices, ensuring consistency between narratives, logframes, and budgets.
- Promote inclusive, safe, and transformative programming through collaborative design with partners and beneficiaries.
- Conduct pre-submission reviews of proposals and, when needed, lead technical writing for donor submissions.
- Engage in technical discussions with donors and partners as required.
- Ensure proposals align with global nutrition guidelines from WHO, UNICEF, SUN, and support digital and innovative nutrition solutions where applicable.
- Contribute regional insights to global nutrition strategy development, including priority setting and malnutrition impact planning.
- Support the development of country strategy action plans and health strategies with high-quality, integrated nutrition components.
- Lead or support regional partnerships with key stakeholders to identify strategic opportunities.
- Develop concept notes and technical portfolio summaries for internal planning and external engagement.
- Collaborate with global specialists to create health tools, frameworks, and technical resources.
- Advance knowledge sharing by contributing to publications, policy briefs, and presentations on regional nutrition practices.
- Support broader health technical unit strategic goals.
- Represent the organization in regional and global technical forums.
- Assist country programs in recruiting, onboarding, and training nutrition staff and consultants.
- Evaluate program quality, provide actionable feedback, and support adaptive learning and improvements.
- Work with health teams to establish systems for tracking quality of care and compliance with standards.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators to guide program reviews and adjustments.
- Deliver ongoing mentoring, coaching, and training to strengthen technical capacity in country teams.
- Review and disseminate nutrition-specific tools, curricula, and resources.
- Participate in regional technical advisor meetings and share updates on country-level programming and global initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 to 8 years of experience managing or implementing health programs with a strong focus on nutrition, including field-level experience in NGOs or international agencies.
- Familiarity with donor requirements, peer organizations, and national contexts, especially in humanitarian, post-crisis, or climate-affected settings.
- Proven ability in technical program design, monitoring, and evaluation, with skill in translating strategy into measurable outcomes.
- Knowledge of nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive MEL frameworks.
- Fluent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities; capable of independent work and meeting deadlines.
- Experience in technical mentorship and capacity building.
- Ability to operate effectively in a complex, global, cross-functional team environment.
- Strong cross-cultural communication and collaboration skills across diverse teams.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, including interpreting complex data and formulating evidence-based solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to adapt positively and proactively to changing work environments.
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Experience in developing technical tools, M&E systems, and conducting research related to environmental health.
- Background in multi-sectoral or cross-disciplinary strategy development.
- Experience working in or understanding of the MENAU and Asia regions.
- Additional language proficiency in Arabic.
Other
- Excellent spoken and written English. Additional skills in Arabic are strongly preferred.
- The position requires regular international travel, up to approximately 40% of the time, primarily within these regions.
