What You'll Do
You will lead the end-to-end creation of a critical customer onboarding platform that serves as the first touchpoint for patients entering a telehealth ecosystem. Starting with architecture and initial development, you'll build the system from concept to production, making key technical decisions that balance scalability, performance, and long-term maintainability.
As the first engineering leader, you will work directly with company founders to define product direction and technical strategy. Once the foundation is established, you will help grow and mentor a team of engineers, fostering strong engineering practices and a culture of ownership.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of full-stack development experience
- Deep proficiency in Node.js, React, and TypeScript
- Hands-on experience with relational databases, particularly Postgres
- Proven track record of launching production systems from zero to operational
- Strong system design capabilities, including tradeoffs for scalability, reliability, and performance
- End-to-end ownership of architecture across frontend, backend, and infrastructure layers
- Practical experience with AWS cloud services
- Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code
- Experience developing user-facing applications with real-world usage and performance demands
- Background in fast-moving or early-stage environments where ambiguity is common
- Experience mentoring engineers and supporting team expansion
- Self-driven with a strong sense of ownership and initiative
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in direct-to-consumer digital platforms
- Integration experience with payment systems like Stripe
- Design and implementation of multi-step user onboarding flows
- Experience using A/B testing tools such as Optimizely
