As an Elementary Art Teacher, you will provide instruction at two elementary schools, delivering a standards-aligned art curriculum that encourages student creativity and growth. You are responsible for planning and teaching lessons that align with district frameworks, assessing student work thoughtfully, and adapting instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver art instruction at designated times and locations, ensuring consistency and engagement across classrooms.
- Create a classroom environment that supports active learning and artistic exploration within available resources.
- Prepare lesson plans and instructional materials, maintaining clear records of curriculum delivery.
- Demonstrate strong command of art education content and pedagogical practices.
- Monitor student progress through regular assessment and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Uphold student safety during class and non-instructional times, including supervision during transitions and school activities.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff on interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.

Qualifications
Candidates must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with an Elementary Education endorsement. You should have a solid understanding of elementary curriculum design and instructional methods, with proven skills in lesson planning, classroom management, and student assessment. Strong written and verbal communication abilities are essential, along with sound judgment in problem-solving and interpersonal interactions.
All applicants must pass required background checks, including FBI and State Police criminal history reviews, Child Protective Services screening, and tuberculosis testing.
Work Environment
This is an on-site position split between two elementary schools. You will use standard educational tools and art-specific materials to deliver hands-on learning experiences. The role requires physical presence during school hours and participation in school-related events.
