About the Role

DriveWhip seeks a Tax Manager to lead our tax compliance and accounting processes. You will identify tax issues, recommend solutions, and serve as a key internal resource for tax research and analysis, supporting indirect tax matters and strategic initiatives for the company.

What You'll Do

  • Manage income tax filings, including working with third-party firms, filing extensions, estimating payments, and ensuring accuracy for federal and multi-state requirements.
  • Manage property tax schedules for development and operating project entities.
  • Prepare and review property tax and sales and use tax filings, ensuring payments are made on required timelines.
  • Oversee quarterly and annual tax provision calculations in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Partner with internal and external accounting and finance partners to ensure timely and accurate filings of federal, multi-state, and local tax returns for various corporate entities.
  • Review and prepare responses and supporting documentation for federal and state tax agency notices and audits.
  • Prepare reports and presentations related to federal and state tax filings and trends.
  • Assist accounting members in preparing federal, state, and local tax compliance and quarterly HLBV calculations.
  • Provide strategic advice regarding taxation and accounting principles in support of company accounting activities.
  • Manage audits and inquiries from taxing authorities.
  • Identify tax-efficient strategies and planning opportunities across the entity structure.
  • Be responsible for aspects of hiring, training, developing employees, and managing the department’s budget.
  • Collaborate within your department and cross-functionally with other departments.
  • Maintain organizational excellence in project timelines and deliverables.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent years of experience.
  • 5-7 years of relevant tax experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn company-specific software and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead highly effective teams, both internally and externally.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and situations to make decisions.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and time management.
  • High degree of self-motivation with the ability to effectively solve problems with little direction.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in Renewables and/or public accounting as a tax professional.
  • Experience in the renewable energy sector or with an independent power producer.

Work Mode

This is a hybrid role based in Boise, Idaho, United States. Remote work is also an option.
