Join Bechtel, a leader in engineering, construction, procurement, and project management, as a Systems Engineer for a major aviation project in the Greater London area. You will be responsible for planning and conducting key systems engineering work, ensuring project outcomes meet stringent client and regulatory requirements.
What You'll Do
- Plan and conduct independent Systems Engineering work on a medium-sized project, applying judgment in the evaluation and adaptation of techniques and criteria.
- Review and prepare key Systems Engineering documents related to requirements management, verification and validation, functional analysis, and technical trade studies.
- Coordinate and interface with the day-to-day technical work of engineering personnel.
- Facilitate technical discussions on systems designs and recommend solutions to management.
- Prepare or oversee the preparation of discipline estimates and work plans in line with project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Interpret new or special regulations, codes, standards, and criteria.
- Coordinate with client representatives to obtain approval on Systems aspects of the work.
- Conduct or lead special studies on new Systems Engineering methods, tools, and techniques.
- Mentor Systems Engineering personnel through on-the-job training for their professional development.
- Participate in special technical educational and training programs as directed.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and relevant work experience.
- A thorough understanding and proven experience in applying systems engineering principles.
- Familiarity with systems engineering codes and standards such as IEEE 1220-2005 and ISO/IEC 15288.
- Knowledge and experience with a wide range of airport systems, including active data and voice networking, data centers, access control, surveillance, passenger processing, baggage handling, automated people movers, and BMS & SCADA systems.
- Understanding of airline industry and international regulatory codes, standards, and design criteria for airports.
- Experience integrating systems into airport command and control structures.
- Knowledge of interface management for system-to-civil and system-to-system interfaces.
Nice to Have
- An understanding of current innovations in airport systems, including applications of AI.
