Zoox is hiring a Senior/Staff Systems V&V Engineer for its Platform Safety Assurance team within System Design and Mission Assurance. Your work will directly impact the safety and fail-operational capabilities of our fleet by contributing to the compute-platform safety case.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with system safety, perception, firmware, vehicle controls, and planning teams to review vehicle response strategies for compute platform fault conditions.
- Design and direct system-level V&V campaigns, establishing novel testing methodologies and metrics to ensure the robotaxi meets end-to-end safety and fail-operational requirements.
- Apply verification and validation expertise to accelerate new platform development and establish robust fail-safe and fail-operational behaviors.
- Lead data collection and analysis campaigns, define and validate system performance metrics, and drive automation initiatives for analysis and process optimization.
What We're Looking For
- BS or higher degree in Electrical, Computer, Systems Engineering, or a relevant technical field.
- 8+ years of specialized experience in verification and validation, functional safety and diagnostics, system and component testing, or HIL and vehicle testing.
- Proficient in Python for data analysis.
- Basic proficiency with probability and statistics.
Nice to Have
- Experience with quantitative risk analysis or statistical reliability analysis.
- Fault protection system design and validation.
- Familiarity with standards such as ISO 26262, ARP 4754, ARP 4761, or IEC 51511.
