Global airports (travel up to 25%) Hybrid Employment

AeroVect is hiring a Senior Safety & Systems Engineer

About the Role

What You'll Do

Collaborate closely with leadership to shape the system architecture for autonomous ground vehicles operating in complex airside environments. You'll lead the design, analysis, and verification of systems that must perform reliably under strict safety constraints.

  • Develop and validate autonomous driving functionalities tailored to airport operations, ensuring alignment with operational design domains (ODD) and real-world conditions.
  • Build comprehensive safety cases using recognized methods such as HARAs, FMEAs, and STPAs to justify system integrity across the development lifecycle.
  • Define safety goals and derive technical requirements based on hazard and risk assessments, maintaining full traceability from concept through deployment.
  • Establish data pipelines to collect, analyze, and report on system performance, supporting evidence-based validation and continuous improvement.
  • Set and enforce engineering standards that ensure fail-safe behavior, including oversight of cross-functional development efforts and integration processes.
  • Identify potential risks early, coordinate mitigation strategies, and communicate technical challenges clearly across teams and leadership levels.

This role requires up to 25% travel to global airport sites for testing, integration, and operational assessments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven background in systems engineering methodologies, including requirements management, traceability, and the V-model lifecycle.
  • Direct experience developing safety-critical autonomous or robotic systems, with documentation of involvement in V&V activities.
  • Familiarity with functional safety and Safety of the Intended Functionality (SOTIF) principles.
  • Basic proficiency in data analysis tools such as Python or SQL, or a demonstrated willingness to learn.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, hands-on problem solver comfortable working in a fast-moving, dynamic environment.

Benefits

This position follows a hybrid work model with significant time spent at global airport locations. Travel is expected up to 25% of the time. Compensation includes competitive salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits designed to support long-term career growth and well-being.
