About the Role
This role involves managing survey field operations, ensuring data accuracy, and supervising crew members during land measurement and data collection activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead survey teams in outdoor environments across diverse terrain
- Operate and maintain electronic and optical survey equipment
- Ensure all field measurements meet project specifications
- Supervise and train junior crew members
- Collect and record precise topographic data
- Perform boundary and control surveys
- Verify field data for consistency and completeness
- Assist in planning survey routes and methods
- Use GPS and total station instruments for positioning
- Prepare field notes and sketches
- Coordinate with office-based staff for data transfer
- Follow safety protocols during field operations
- Troubleshoot equipment issues in the field
- Maintain survey logs and daily reports
- Ensure compliance with industry standards
- Work according to project schedules and deadlines
- Transport equipment and crew to remote locations
- Set up and calibrate instruments at survey sites
- Perform elevation and distance measurements
- Support engineering and design teams with accurate data
Nice to Have
- Associate degree in surveying or related field
- Certification as a Licensed Surveyor
- Experience with aerial ground control surveys
- Familiarity with GIS data collection
- Knowledge of local surveying laws
- Experience in utility or pipeline projects
- Training in advanced GPS techniques
- Previous work with engineering firms
- Use of drone-assisted surveying methods
- Project management experience
