Join Hackensack Meridian Health as a Surgical Technician, where you will play a critical role in patient care by providing surgeons with the necessary sterile instruments and supplies during procedures. You will perform duties under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse and leverage your detailed knowledge of surgical instruments in our collaborative, mission-driven environment.
What You'll Do
- Perform assigned duties under the direction of the Registered Professional Nurse to implement a plan of care.
- Provide surgeons with appropriate sterile instruments and supplies throughout the course of surgery.
- Accurately complete assignments within scheduled time periods.
- Communicate pertinent patient information and actual or potential problems to the registered nurse throughout the shift.
- Cooperate with reassignments in the interest of patient care.
- Demonstrate the ability to care for patients by providing safe, direct patient care according to established standards.
- Exercise calm behavior and utilize appropriate judgment during emergency situations.
- Participate in the improvement processes of quality patient care.
- Provide for effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment, and critical actions.
- Adhere to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
What We're Looking For
- A High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Must meet the NJ requirements under the Surgical Technologist law.
- BLS certification is required.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Tech Program and a Certified Surgical Tech.
- Must be a self-starter who works well independently.
- Strong time management and prioritizing skills.
- Ability to multi-task effectively.
Nice to Have
- 6 months OR experience is strongly preferred.
- A minimum of 1 year surgical scrub experience is preferred.
- National certification is preferred.
