Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of outside and inside plant network services and technicians, including installation, maintenance, residential and business services, central office tasks, design services, and splicing activities.
- Act as the primary liaison between the company and contractors to address issues during construction or maintenance.
- Emphasize training, coaching, and development of employees in new processes, quality standards, customer interaction, safety, expense control, and technical skills.
- Lead a team of technicians to meet attendance and performance benchmarks.
- Represent the company with customers and government agencies.
- Collaborate with the union to foster a mutually beneficial working relationship.
- Celebrate achievements through appropriate rewards and recognition.
- Inspire the team to pursue continuous improvement and achieve peak performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
- Previous experience managing teams in a telecom technical environment, typically with 4+ years of experience.
- Strong skills and experience in employee development, including training, coaching, and mentoring in a union environment.
- Computer skills required, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and legacy systems.
- Working knowledge of installation and maintenance of residential and business services, Local Network processes, and a fundamental understanding of services and products offered.
- Working knowledge of the splicing and construction process for the telecommunication industry.
- Working knowledge of contractor relations.
- Ability to work consultatively with others, including establishing rapport, interviewing, fact-finding, presenting options, recommending solutions, following up, and demonstrating customer-focused behavior.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, prioritize multiple projects, and perform under pressure.
- Experience negotiating timelines for completion and meeting critical deadlines.
- Willingness to collaborate with coworkers to complete job assignments.
Nice to Have
- 2+ years of experience managing teams in a telecom technical environment.
- 2+ years of experience with installation, maintenance, and repair of POTS and HSI.
