Galileo Learning is hiring a Summer Travel Camp Director for our San Juan Capistrano region. You’ll be a dynamic leader supporting multiple camp sites, stepping in for Camp Directors or Assistant Directors as needed to ensure smooth operations. Reporting to the Field Program Manager, you’ll create a joyful, safe, and inspiring camp experience for all.
What You'll Do
- Infuse camp with joy, tradition, and creativity, building an inclusive environment where every camper, staff member, and family feels seen, supported, and inspired.
- Own every aspect of your camp’s launch from preseason planning through end-of-summer wrap-up, overseeing daily operations and parent communication.
- Prioritize camper safety and family trust at all times, anticipating needs and problem-solving to ensure camp runs seamlessly.
- Train and mentor a staff of 10–40, providing clear expectations, ongoing feedback, and professional development.
- Use the Galileo Innovation Approach (GIA) to encourage curiosity and problem-solving, leading your team to turn challenges into opportunities.
- Serve as the primary face of camp, communicating proactively with families, facilities partners, HQ support teams, and community partners.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience working in education/child development (K-8 preferred) or related coursework.
- 1+ year of team management, coaching, or supervisory experience.
- Availability for part-time remote work starting Feb 2026, and full-time on-site work starting June 2026.
- Willingness to travel in the region to up to 3 in-person marketing events during the preseason.
- Ability to travel to multiple locations across one or more region(s) throughout the summer.
- Flexibility to adapt and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to complete all required state certifications before camp starts.
