Destiny Christian Academy is hiring a Substitute Teacher to provide care and instruction for children up to 5 years of age. In this role, you will foster an environment that promotes social, physical, and intellectual growth in preparation for primary school.

What You'll Do

Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use in learning and imaginative play.
Teach basic skills including color, shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skills.
Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order.
Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips.
Observe and evaluate children's performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
Identify children showing signs of emotional, developmental, or health-related problems and discuss them with supervisors, parents or guardians, and specialists.
Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress, needs, and priorities, and suggest ways to promote learning and development.
Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students.
Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.

What We're Looking For

A minimum of 12 ECE units with six months’ experience.
Ability to bend or squat to attend to children’s needs and sit on the ground as needed.
Able to lift and carry a 45lb child to safety or in the event of a medical emergency.
Able to push or pull a crib or stroller with multiple infants in an emergency.
Able to visually supervise children and listen to them to maintain their safety in accordance with California State Licensing’s health and safety regulations.
Hold a valid driver’s license in the state where based and have appropriate auto insurance as required by law.
Understand and apply all school policies and procedures, follow instructions, be detail oriented, and have good follow-through on all projects.
