Responsibilities
- Develop engineering designs for electrical substation layouts and physical configurations
- Perform structural and electrical calculations to support substation projects
- Review technical specifications and ensure compliance with applicable codes
- Collaborate with project teams to deliver safe and efficient substation solutions
- Support field teams during construction and commissioning phases
- Produce detailed drawings and documentation using CAD software
- Evaluate existing substation infrastructure for upgrades or retrofits
- Coordinate with utility clients and regulatory agencies
- Conduct site assessments and provide technical recommendations
- Ensure designs meet safety, reliability, and environmental standards
- Assist in the development of project scopes and cost estimates
- Participate in design reviews and technical meetings
- Troubleshoot design or field issues related to substation components
- Stay current with evolving industry practices and technologies
- Maintain accurate project records and engineering files
- Support permitting and approval processes for new installations
- Work within established project timelines and budgets
- Apply principles of power systems engineering to physical designs
