AECOM is hiring a Substation Engineering Lead - Physical - Remote (U.S.)

About the Role

This position involves leading the development and review of substation physical design deliverables, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams on complex power system projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and review of substation physical design documentation
  • Oversee engineering calculations and technical specifications for substation components
  • Coordinate with electrical, civil, and structural engineers on integrated design solutions
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements
  • Manage project deliverables and timelines for substation design packages
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers
  • Review vendor drawings and interface documents
  • Support permitting and regulatory submittals for substation projects
  • Participate in design reviews and client meetings
  • Identify and mitigate potential design risks early in project lifecycle
  • Utilize engineering software for modeling and design validation
  • Maintain consistency across multiple project designs
  • Ensure safety and constructability are integrated into design plans
  • Assist in developing standard design practices and templates
  • Interface with construction teams to resolve field issues
  • Support project estimating and scope development
  • Review construction specifications and bid documents
  • Lead design changes and updates throughout project phases
  • Ensure proper documentation and archiving of design records
  • Promote innovation in substation layout and equipment arrangement
  • Collaborate with clients to understand project objectives
  • Support quality assurance and quality control processes
  • Stay current with evolving industry standards and technologies
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering workflows
