General Motors is hiring a Strategic Initiatives Senior Financial Analyst to join our GM Defense division. In this role, you will report directly to the senior finance leader and be a key contributor, providing insights that guide future decisions and strategic direction. You will support Capture, Cost modeling, and program initiatives within a mission-driven organization.
What You'll Do
- Prepare, analyze, and review Product Lifecycle models.
- Provide support and analysis on cost reduction proposals and program tracking.
- Conduct investment and Make/Buy analysis.
- Maintain capital forecast and support AR planning and development.
- Identify improvement opportunities and risks, proactively implementing solutions.
- Partner with execution leaders to develop and achieve cost targets.
- Solve problems, correct inconsistent data, and develop new methods of analysis.
- Prepare special studies, business cases, and ad-hoc financial estimates to support strategic decisions.
- Work collaboratively with functional counterparts to address issues.
- Ensure standard processes are automated and working effectively.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of relevant financial experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field.
- Strong financial modeling, valuation, and data analytics skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Hands-on experience with Hyperion and SAP.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills within Finance and with operating partners.
- Knowledge of financial reporting and accounting concepts.
Nice to Have
- Defense or Government contracting experience.
- Operations or manufacturing background.
- Learning agility and intellectual curiosity.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
- Ability to network and build trust across GM Defense program, finance, and controllership teams.
- Knowledge of finance principles including income statement and cash flow analysis.

Team & Environment
You will report directly to the senior finance leader in GM Defense. The role requires close partnership and collaboration with several groups, including Program Management, Program teams, GSPC, Contracts, Business Development, and Manufacturing planning.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement and is located in Warren, MI.
