GM Financial is seeking candidates for the Strategic Account Manager program, a 6 to 8-month hands-on sales training program designed to prepare you for an Account Manager role. This role provides real-world experience in financial services sales, business development, and customer relationship management, setting you up to contribute directly to B2B revenue growth.
What You'll Do
- During the program, work on a team of three to six trainees, gaining account management experience through job-shadowing, roleplaying, credit underwriting, and assessments.
- Develop a strong personal network of business professionals within GM Financial and the automotive industry.
- After the program, manage dealer relationships to drive sales and engagement with GM Financial’s programs, systems, incentives, and rewards.
- Act as a liaison between the dealer and internal functional areas like the Credit Center and Funding to resolve issues.
- Analyze dealer-specific data using reporting tools and take appropriate action.
- Identify and resolve dealer issues presenting excessive risk, such as portfolio problems, fraud, or agreement violations.
- Professionally represent the GM Financial brand and demonstrate our captive value proposition.

Nice to Have
- A Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred, or extensive relevant experience.
- Leadership experience in the classroom, community, or workplace; formal management experience is not required.
- 2+ years of sales, account management, or auto finance experience is considered a plus.
Team & Environment
During the 6 to 8-month training program, you will work on a team of three to six Strategic Account Manager trainees.

- Base salary of $60,000 a year during training.
- Salary increases to $72,000 (potentially more based on location and experience) upon territory assignment.

Work Mode
