Boston Dynamics is hiring a Staff Technical Writer to join our Customer Learning & Development team. You will play a key role in empowering both internal and external customers by developing technical documentation and supporting strategic learning goals for our advanced products.
What You'll Do
- Rapidly develop and implement technical documentation.
- Support learning and design efforts to improve service and support products.
- Design, develop, and support safety and compliance standards for operators.
- Utilize AI strategically, safely, and appropriately to support content development and simple coding tasks.
- Enable stakeholders to contribute and share their knowledge, facilitating transfer to documentation build systems.
- Ensure that documentation related to product features stays up to date.
- Leverage understanding of SEO, topic-based documentation standards, and user experience to design content for efficient search and navigation.
- Implement appropriate documentation transformation technologies, integrating them with existing systems.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, collaborating with team members as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Technical Writing, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience using programmatic technical markup languages like Markdown, HTML, and XML.
- Experience with configuring and maintaining documentation publishing pipelines.
- Experience with technical user manuals for hardware and software based products.
- Ability to communicate complex technical matters to various audiences, including non-technical and first time users.
- Strong interest in designing content models to provide consistent pattern recognition.
- Strong organization, project management, and communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Docusaurus or other Markdown to HTML libraries.
- Proficiency in DITA XML, Standard HTML and CSS development.
- Experience with Git or other change management tools.
- Experience with Agile workflows and Jira project management.
- Experience supporting documentation designed for localization.
- Experience with CRM platforms.

This role is part of the Customer Learning & Development (CL&D) team and reports to the Manager of Documentation Systems.

- Salary: $88,600.00 to $121,800.00 annually
