Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to lead technical development and strategic initiatives within our fast-growing payments environment. You will build and maintain the backend systems that manage complex fund flows, ensuring high reliability and scalability.
What You'll Do
- Maintain and enhance backend services that manage the flow of funds, including ledger, ACH, and wire infrastructure.
- Develop new features and improvements to serve customer needs while ensuring reliability and minimal technical debt.
- Lead system and process improvements within the team and across the engineering organization.
- Own initiatives end-to-end, from planning through launch, keeping stakeholders informed and aligned.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support production systems.
- Mentor, sponsor, and empower team members, fostering growth and collaboration.
- Drive strategic planning alongside engineering and product leadership.
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of experience delivering production-quality code in fast-paced environments.
- Strong distributed systems design skills and instincts.
- Proven ability to manage large cross-functional projects across engineering, product, and operations teams.
- Demonstrated ability to turn complex requirements into scalable software solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a commitment to empathy and inclusion.
- Growth mindset and continuous learning orientation.
- Expertise in Python or similar backend technologies for distributed systems.

- Compensation range: $200,000–$220,000 USD
