Ashby is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join its Product Engineering team in the Americas. You will take full ownership of critical product areas, drive innovation, and deliver high-quality software that solves real problems for Talent Acquisition teams at companies with tens of thousands of daily active users.
What You'll Do
- Take ownership over a large portion of one of Ashby's products
- Own projects end-to-end, including responsibilities traditionally held by product and design roles
- Research competitors and customer needs to inform product development
- Write product specifications for new features
- Create wireframes and design interfaces
- Build and ship features across the full technology stack
- Design and implement reusable building blocks and abstractions
- Collaborate with stakeholders to vet decisions and keep them informed
- Work with other engineers to deliver projects successfully
- Participate in customer issue investigations and support
- Contribute to technical and product strategy within their domain
- Prototype ideas and validate solutions with users
- Make technology choices and evaluate new infrastructure when necessary
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience tackling projects with significant product and technical ambiguity
- Ability to work across the entire technology stack (frontend, backend, infrastructure)
- Strong product sense and ability to make product decisions independently
- Experience writing product specs and creating wireframes
- Demonstrated ability to balance speed and quality in software delivery
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- History of taking ownership of complex projects from conception to delivery
- Comfort operating in a low-process, high-agency environment
- Ability to create leverage through automation, abstractions, and tooling
