About the Role

Abbott Laboratories Inc is hiring a Staff Software Engineer, Mobile Applications to work on a modern React Native and Golang-based mobile platform dedicated to improving health outcomes globally. You will build scalable, secure, and highly available software solutions for medical devices, supporting users in over 50 countries.

What You'll Do

  • Design and implement software solutions for a robust mobile platform.
  • Write unit-testable and highly maintainable code.
  • Support software development and architecture best practices across multiple projects.
  • Contribute to the technical team strategy and roadmap.
  • Collaborate on significant architectural and operational decisions with the Architecture team and product owners.
  • Identify and solve design and technology issues within current systems.
  • Work with internal and external teams to shape and define API contracts.
  • Ensure performance, scale, and high standards of code quality and design.
  • Create software architecture and design documentation.
  • Support engineering teams with design and code reviews.
  • Design team tooling and processes, and help build team culture.
  • Provide technical training and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Stay current with emerging trends and make recommendations to foster innovation.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional hands-on software development experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, shipping, and maintaining complex mobile applications.
  • Expert-level knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, and React Native.
  • Hands-on experience with Swift, Kotlin, or Golang.
  • In-depth understanding of modern cross-platform mobile app architecture, API design patterns, performance, and scalability.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Experience documenting architectural and design decisions.
  • Experience working with and supporting multiple development team members.

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on knowledge of event-driven architectures.
  • Familiarity with Cybersecurity best practices.
  • A willingness to learn new software development languages to meet goals.

  • Salary Range: $97,300.00 – $194,700.00
