Responsibilities
- Translate product requirements into technical specifications by modeling domains, defining interfaces and workflows, and navigating trade-offs.
- Decompose large problems into manageable tasks that other engineers can own, and sequence work to deliver useful results early.
- Drive high-impact architectural decisions across the data platform, owning components end-to-end from design through production.
- Work across the stack using Go, Kotlin, Rust, and Python where appropriate, selecting the best tool for each task rather than the most familiar one.
- Design for correctness and performance under real-world volume, including large-scale ingestion, distributed processing, and data lake storage.
- Raise standards for design reviews, testing, and task decomposition within the team.
- Mentor engineers by example in a fully distributed team environment.

- Experience with data lakes and formats such as Parquet, Iceberg, or Deltalog.
- Experience at a company where data is the core product.
