Reddit is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to serve as the primary technical driver for the Advertiser Growth Retention team. In this high-agency Tech Lead role, you will ship code and drive outcomes to improve advertiser retention and revenue through intelligent systems and optimization tools.
What You'll Do
- Steer high-velocity experiments and features that directly impact advertiser retention and revenue, such as automated campaign optimization and churn prevention.
- Architect the technical roadmap for full campaign lifecycle support, designing systems to intelligently guide advertisers.
- Build world-class experiences for SMBs by developing complex features like one-click campaign configurations and ads serving optimizations.
- Amplify the team through mentorship and by fostering a culture of experimentation, speed, and technical excellence.
- Collaborate deeply with cross-functional teams across Ads Formats, Ads Signals, and Ads Serving.
- Evolve by staying ahead of growth engineering best practices and driving a data-driven mindset.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of leading technical projects in a growth or product-focused environment.
- A doer-focused attitude with a strong bias for action, comfortable with rapid iteration, A/B testing, and making technical trade-offs.
- Strong experience in developing scalable backend services and/or full-stack product features.
- Expertise in at least one general-purpose programming language (e.g., Go, Python, Scala, Java, or C++) and ability to grow expertise in Reddit's stack.
- Demonstrated ability to act as a Tech Lead, aligning stakeholders, breaking down complex ambiguous problems, and unblocking the team.
- Excellent communication skills for driving consensus and explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Direct experience as a Tech Lead in a Growth or Ads team.
- Experience with experimentation infrastructure (A/B testing frameworks) and data-driven product development.
- Proven experience building products for SMBs or self-serve advertising platforms.
- Experience with API integrations (e.g., Shopify, WooCommerce) or marketing automation tools.
- Expertise in Python and/or Go.
