The Gladstone-UCSF Institute of Genomic Immunology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), is hiring a Staff Research Associate. In this role, you will support and potentially lead collaborative cellular engineering projects focused on fundamental T cell immunology. You will help develop novel genetic and epigenetic tools to reprogram primary human immune cells for therapeutic applications in cancer, infectious disease, and autoimmunity.
What You'll Do
- Assist with research using CRISPR engineering tools, genetic and epigenetic screens, and novel cell and gene therapy manufacturing strategies.
- Conduct experiments under the guidance of senior laboratory members.
- Perform data analysis and interpretation.
- Present findings to laboratory members and collaborators.
- Participate in the design and execution of new research projects.
- Assist with training and supervising undergraduate students.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related scientific discipline.
- Two years of experience in human CAR-T or TCR-T cell engineering using viral and CRISPR/Cas9 non-viral approaches.
- Two years of experience with flow cytometry, molecular cloning, and mammalian cell culture.
- At least six months of experience with bioinformatics approaches, including basic proficiency with R or Python.
Nice to Have
- A degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Bioengineering, Immunology, or a related field.
- Prior relevant laboratory experience, preferably in immunology, synthetic biology, genome and epigenome engineering, cell and gene therapies, or a related field.
- Experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques, such as PCR, qPCR, cloning, gene editing, cell culture, flow cytometry, and next-generation sequencing.
- Hands-on experience with immunology techniques, including immune cell isolation and multi-color flow cytometry.
- Experience with cell therapy techniques, such as T-cell engineering, stem cell manipulation, or CAR-T cell development.
