ERM is hiring a Spatial Analyst (Remote Sensing)

About the Role

ERM is looking for an early-career Spatial Analyst to contribute to environmental projects using remote sensing and spatial data analysis. This role supports interdisciplinary teams by delivering technical outputs such as habitat maps, land cover assessments, and geospatial analyses across diverse project scopes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply remote sensing techniques and GIS tools to support environmental assessments and monitoring
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to produce accurate spatial deliverables, including habitat models and change detection analyses
  • Interpret geospatial outputs within ecological and environmental contexts for integration into technical reports
  • Support project workflows using ESRI ArcPro, QGIS, and field data collection tools like Field Maps

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least two years of professional experience in remote sensing applications for environmental projects
  • Degree in Remote Sensing, GIS, Spatial Sciences, Surveying, or a related environmental field
  • Proven ability to analyze and interpret optical satellite and aerial imagery
  • Strong working knowledge of ESRI ArcPro and QGIS
  • Background in ecology or environmental science with demonstrated report-writing capabilities

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with active (e.g., LiDAR, radar) and passive remote sensing systems
  • Track record in vegetation mapping and monitoring across different spatial scales
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Online and mobile field data workflows
  • Exposure to Python or R for automating geospatial processes
  • Professional experience in areas such as carbon projects, mine rehabilitation, environmental approvals, or renewable energy development

This position offers flexible remote work with a preference for candidates based in Brisbane. The role operates within a global team structure, supporting sustainability initiatives across multiple sectors. You’ll work on technically diverse assignments, contributing to real-world environmental challenges while growing your expertise.
