The Cigna Group is hiring a Staff Pharmacist, Specialty for a remote role supporting Evernorth's pharmacy operations. You will collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to plan and implement safe, effective drug therapy, conduct patient assessments, and monitor therapy outcomes. This position focuses on understanding pharmacy billing, reimbursement, and third-party payor requirements, while working within the framework of our electronic health record systems.
What You'll Do
- Understand billing, reimbursement, case management, and third-party payor requirements for pharmacy products and services.
- Understand the workflow of electronic health record systems in use at CarepathRx.
- Assist physicians and healthcare professionals in planning and implementing patient care to ensure safe and effective drug therapy.
- Conduct initial and ongoing assessment of patient drug and disease information to identify drug-related problems or needs.
- Assist in setting therapeutic objectives for drug therapy and establishing monitoring parameters.
- Monitor drug therapy outcomes by collecting, evaluating, and interpreting laboratory and clinical data.
- Communicate therapeutic drug monitoring results to physicians, nursing, and other personnel and make recommendations.
- Provide consultations to patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals regarding drug use.
- Maintain thorough documentation in the patient record of all clinical activities and communications.
- Process and check all medications prior to dispensing from the pharmacy.
- Maintain pharmacy records in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Establish positive working relationships with internal and external customers and handle complaints empathetically.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and support pharmacoeconomic programs.
- Assist with development and enforcement of policies for cost-effective, appropriate, and safe medication use.
- Issue controlled substances to patient care areas and maintain required records.
- Assist with pharmacokinetics consult service and drug dosing per organizational protocol.
- Participate in the development and presentation of orientation, education, and training programs.
- Coordinate and facilitate new referrals or admissions through collaboration with nursing, admissions, operations, and sterile products.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- B.S. degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D.).
- Pennsylvania Pharmacist License.
- Must be flexible with work schedule.
- Demonstrate ability to solve problems and supervise technical and support staff.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Clearly and effectively communicates both verbally and in writing.
- Communicates in a timely manner and is capable of active listening.
- Receptive to new ideas and views of others.
- Adaptable to fast paced and often evolving environment.
- Licenses and Certifications Pharmacist.
Nice to Have
- 2+ years previous experience in specialty pharmacy services.
- Certification in Specialty.
