MedWiz Solutions LLC is seeking a Staff Pharmacist to join our team. Reporting to the Head PIC, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective use of medications. Your core duties will include dispensing prescription medications, providing patient education, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Perform initial review and clinical verification of medications and prescriptions, checking for drug interactions, therapy duplication, and other clinical issues.
- Conduct final verification on filled medications to ensure correct product usage, absence of damage, and adherence to quality standards.
- Ensure accurate entry and typing of prescriptions.
- Perform controlled medication inventory functions including checking in orders per DEA regulations, documentation, online ordering, and ensuring appropriate storage.
- Utilize MedBank for prescription verification and controlled medication emergency dispensing.
- Conduct daily checks on ancillary items such as emergency kits, MedBank cubes, and DOSIS canisters.
- Review prescriptions, contacting facilities or prescribers as necessary to address any issues.
- Monitor and manage workflow to ensure prescriptions are filled accurately and on time.
- Evaluate orders held for payer issues and determine if emergency supply should be provided.
- Prepare and oversee sterile and non-sterile compounding as needed.
- Handle telephone orders from prescribers and delegate prescriptions as required.
- Address inquiries from technicians and provide guidance on pharmacy procedures.
- Manage electronic communications with staff and facilities, ensuring timely responses.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
What We're Looking For
- Doctorate of Pharmacy.
- Active State Pharmacist license.
- State license to handle medication.
- 1-3 years of pharmaceutical experience.
- Intermediate proficiency with Pharmacy and medication distribution software (Pyxis Medbank, Frameworks).
- Ability to read and interpret medication documentation, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively, both in person and by telephone.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations in all units of measure.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to understand and interpret statistical reports, data charts and graphs.
- Predictable, reliable, and punctual attendance.
Nice to Have
- 2-4 years long term care pharmacy experience.
- Experience with long term care pharmacy software.
