About the Role
This position leads technical strategy and execution for a high-traffic eCommerce platform, ensuring scalable solutions and mentoring engineers while driving innovation in customer-facing systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable backend systems for an online retail platform
- Collaborate with product and design teams to deliver seamless user experiences
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and career development
- Drive adoption of best practices in testing, reliability, and system observability
- Own critical components of the platform’s architecture and infrastructure
- Work closely with operations to ensure system stability and performance
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies to improve platform capabilities
- Support incident response and root cause analysis for production issues
- Contribute to long-term technical roadmaps and strategic planning
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence
- Ensure security and compliance standards are met across systems
- Participate in cross-team initiatives to align technical direction
- Optimize platform performance under high traffic and transaction volume
- Improve deployment pipelines and CI/CD practices
- Champion maintainable and well-documented code across services
- Collaborate on API design and integration patterns
- Support data-informed decision-making through system metrics
- Identify and reduce technical debt in legacy systems
- Work with frontend teams to deliver cohesive full-stack solutions
- Ensure accessibility and internationalization are considered in development
- Lead proof-of-concept projects for new features or platforms
- Coordinate with stakeholders to align engineering efforts with business goals
- Drive automation in testing and monitoring workflows
- Foster knowledge sharing across engineering teams
- Maintain system uptime and reduce mean time to resolution
Nice to Have
- Experience in a senior or staff-level engineering role
- Background in leading technical strategy across multiple teams
- History of contributing to open-source projects
- Familiarity with frontend technologies such as React or TypeScript
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and infrastructure as code
