Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the Android platform, including modularization, dependency injection, navigation, deep linking, and app lifecycle systems.
- Create and deliver shared libraries and frameworks for feature teams, prioritizing developer and AI ergonomics.
- Advance Cash App's Android architecture with high-impact decisions that yield long-term benefits.
- Design innovative Android platform technologies and open source them when beneficial to the community.
- Enable rapid experimentation to support fast iteration in an AI-driven environment.
- Enhance observability and performance tools to provide engineers and on-call staff with clarity and confidence.
- Collaborate with iOS, web, and backend engineers to ensure consistent, high-quality cross-platform experiences.
- Lead as an AI-native engineer, evolving how the Android engineering organization uses AI.
- Identify and act on opportunities where AI creates significant leverage in platform and product engineering workflows.
- Introduce and evaluate emerging AI development tools, such as Claude Code, GPT/Codex, Goose, and future tools, forming clear adoption recommendations.
- Build AI-powered capabilities into the platform to create lasting value for product teams.
- Address cross-cutting technical problems across the Android organization and mobilize resources to solve them.
- Identify and communicate unknown risks and systemic issues before they impact customers or cause engineering crises.
- Lead architecture and design reviews across teams, helping establish scalable standards.
- Mentor and develop engineers at all levels, raising the technical expertise of the Android community.
- Partner with engineers, product managers, and designers to align platform investments with team needs.
- Represent Android platform requirements in cross-functional, cross-organization, and company-wide technical discussions.
- Communicate complex technical trade-offs clearly to engineers, product partners, and leadership.
