Hims & Hers is looking for a Staff Accountant, OPEX to support our day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close activities. You will play a key role in tracking, classifying, and reporting Operating Expenses (OPEX) across departments to ensure accurate financial results and drive continuous improvement. This position is central to our mission of redefining healthcare by putting the customer first.
What You'll Do
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly accounting tasks to maintain the accuracy and integrity of general ledger activity related to operating expenses.
- Support the full month-end close cycle, including preparing and posting journal entries for expense accruals, prepaid amortization, and reclasses.
- Complete detailed account reconciliations and investigate variances across multiple OPEX categories such as prepaid expenses, professional services, software, and facilities.
- Contribute to the preparation of internal financial reporting packages, providing insight into OPEX trends and supporting variance analysis.
- Partner cross-functionally with Accounting, FP&A, Procurement, and operational teams to ensure timely and accurate expense recognition, and to resolve any discrepancies.
- Review deliverables from offshore accounting partners, provide feedback, and develop training documentation to ensure alignment with internal standards.
- Assist with quarterly and annual external audit procedures and SOX compliance testing, including the preparation of audit support and process narratives.
- Participate in ad hoc accounting projects and special initiatives related to systems, reporting, and controls that impact expense accounting processes.
- Take ownership of assigned OPEX areas, proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement.
What We're Looking For
- 2–4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a top-tier university.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and resolve complex issues.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of organizational ability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines with accuracy.
- A collaborative team player who thrives in both in-person and remote work environments.
Nice to Have
- Public accounting or public company experience.
- Big 4 accounting firm experience.
- CPA license or active progress toward CPA certification.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) and expense tracking/reporting tools.
