As a Sr. Transmission Line Engineer, you will direct the planning and development of high-voltage transmission systems, ensuring designs meet rigorous engineering standards and project goals. You will serve as a technical authority within the power infrastructure team, contributing to every phase from concept to construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop transmission line designs using PLS-CADD and related structural modeling tools
- Create detailed design criteria, construction specifications, and full construction documentation packages
- Generate staking tables, plan and profile drawings, stringing charts, and material schedules
- Perform cost, labor, and resource estimates to support project scheduling and budgeting
- Ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, NEC, and other relevant industry codes
- Conduct routing analyses, feasibility assessments, and electromagnetic field (EMF) studies
- Review and approve installation of foundations, structures, and hardware in the field
- Support business development through proposal contributions and client engagement
- Travel as needed during project definition and implementation stages
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Structural Engineering is required, along with a minimum of seven years of direct experience in transmission line design. Proficiency in PLS-CADD is essential, and familiarity with RISA-3D or STAAD is advantageous. Candidates must demonstrate strong knowledge of NESC, IEEE, and other applicable design standards. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred. Experience in utility or consulting environments is highly valued.
