The City of Fort Worth is hiring a Senior Professional Engineer to join a dynamic team dedicated to Vision Zero implementation. You will play a pivotal role in executing the City’s Vision Zero Safety Action Plan, specifically leading initiatives within the Safe Routes to School and ADA & Sidewalk Programs.
What You'll Do
- Provide leadership and supervision to a team of three, which includes one engineer and two engineering technicians
- Develop safety countermeasure concepts and coordinate with contractors and internal teams to implement safety projects
- Respond to public service requests, communicating with residents, coordinating field investigations, and implementing short-term solutions like signs, markings, and sidewalk ramps
- Manage pedestrian infrastructure and school traffic safety projects, including developing scopes, schedules, and budgets
- Use the VueWorks Enterprise Asset Management System to plan, track, and maintain accurate records of transportation assets
- Manage sidewalk contract development, procurement, and compliance
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field
- Three (3) years of professional civil engineering experience, with two (2) years focused on civil engineering design, construction, or infrastructure review
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas (or ability to obtain Texas registration within six months of employment)
- A valid driver’s license
Nice to Have
- Experience applying the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines, AASHTO Policy, or NACTO Design Guidelines
- Experience performing traffic safety studies, such as sidewalk audits, school zone, crosswalk, or warning beacon studies
- Experience managing safety construction projects for crosswalks, sidewalks, illumination, or warning beacons
