About the Role

The American Cancer Society is hiring a Senior Director, Marketing Strategy to lead our Marketing Strategy & Planning team. In this remote role, you will be a forward-thinking, audience-obsessed leader responsible for translating insights into integrated marketing strategies and go-to-market plans that achieve critical business outcomes as we work to end cancer for everyone.

What You'll Do

  • Hire, manage, mentor, and inspire a team of marketing strategists, fostering a culture of continuous learning, growth, and autonomy.
  • Drive the use of customer insights and data analytics to deeply understand audiences and inform all strategic planning and go-to-market activations.
  • Oversee the development of audience strategies for recruitment, retention, and re-engagement aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead the creation of annual marketing calendars, strategic plans, and integrated multi-channel campaigns with clear objectives and KPIs.
  • Build strong relationships and trust with Pillar Leadership and cross-functional teams to understand business priorities and provide strategic marketing counsel.
  • Partner with Creative leadership to ensure breakthrough, brand-aligned creative work that drives business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with analytics and research teams to establish robust KPIs, dashboards, and real-time measurement frameworks.
  • Oversee post-activation reporting, analyze lessons learned, and ensure continuous feedback loops for strategic refinement.
  • Inspire innovation and testing of ideas, fostering a culture of agility and marketing science.
  • Oversee marketing budgets, ensuring strategic investment in high-impact initiatives that deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • Identify and manage vendor relationships, ensuring accountability for quality, time, and budget.
  • Translate complex marketing data and strategies into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Act as a strong advocate for audience-centricity, innovation, and the strategic value of marketing in driving organizational growth.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 7+ years of successful marketing experience in a medium-to-large organization.
  • 2+ years of people leadership experience.
  • 5+ years of experience leading cross-functional initiatives and teams.
  • A valid Driver’s License.
  • Passion for mentoring and talent development, with a track record of building high-performing teams.
  • Highly data-driven mindset with experience leveraging analytics and market research in marketing decision-making and execution.
  • Deep expertise in building integrated marketing strategies, executing with excellence, and identifying learnings for optimization.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide initiatives, building rapport among diverse groups, and influencing individuals without direct supervision.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with a win-win mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence individuals and teams at all levels of the organization with impeccable interpersonal skills.
  • An effective, versatile, action-oriented individual with the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in software, including exceptional skills with the Microsoft Office suite.

Nice to Have

  • Master's Degree in marketing, business, or a related field.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Salary range: $121,000 to $140,000 annually.
