Gartner is looking for a Sr Director Analyst to join our team focused on AI-Native Software Architecture & Development. In this role, you will act as a thought leader and trusted advisor, creating high-impact research and providing actionable insights for technology leaders globally.
What You'll Do
- Create innovative, thought-provoking, and highly leveraged 'must-have' research insights within the Software Engineering Architecture & Development group.
- Build on research by speaking directly with clients, presenting at global conferences, and conducting on-site client engagements.
- Analyze clients’ issues in depth to identify root causes and needs, helping reframe their thinking to drive solution strategy.
- Research, analyze, and predict technology and market trends to provide clients and vendors with actionable insights, focusing on megatrends.
- Create and deliver high-value presentation materials for Gartner events, industry conferences, and client briefings.
- Provide sales support by serving as the voice of the market to help research teams create content and drive strategic client engagement.
- Build credibility as an industry expert to represent Gartner research insights, methodology, and strategy to clients, press, and via social media.
- Actively participate in and drive strategic innovation, ideation, and research discussions; collaborate effectively with peers and peer-review research.
- Be a mentor and coach by supporting newer members of teams across the practice.
- Be client-centric while actively seeking to help clients engage regularly with Gartner research and interactions.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's degree and at least 12 years of experience in a related field or an equivalent combination.
- Knowledge and direct experience with leading LLMs including OpenAI GPT, Anthropic Claude, and Google Gemini.
- Knowledge and direct experience with the markets of AI Agents and Code Assistants for developers (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot).
- Knowledge and direct experience with Generative AI technologies used by custom-built software such as AI agents, and the architecture required to deliver them.
- Ability to formulate and articulate technology and business adoption scenarios for senior technology leaders.
- Demonstrated executive presence and ability to establish credibility with executives and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and project management skills: ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high-quality deliverables.
- Demonstrated excellence in research and writing ability, including use of graphics and storytelling.
- Strong proficiency in verbal interaction for inquiries, with presentation skills at keynote level.
- Proficient in analyzing and synthesizing data from surveys and interviews.
- Strong business and financial acumen.
- Deep knowledge of the global and competitive landscape within subject areas.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams in a multicultural global team.
- Ability to represent Gartner's research methodology and strategies effectively at all levels.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25%.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge and experience leading agile product (software development) teams/groups and as a thought leader in software architectures and platforms.
- Proficiency with media, including past media training and a record of success with media.
