TaxValet is hiring a Senior Business Intelligence Developer to architect and deliver enterprise reporting and analytics solutions. In this role, you will design scalable Power BI dashboards and semantic models, partnering closely with business stakeholders to transform data into actionable insights.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop high-quality Power BI reports and dashboards that align to business goals.
- Translate business requirements into scalable BI solutions, including dashboards, scorecards, and KPI tracking.
- Create and maintain reusable Power BI assets like measure libraries, templates, and certified datasets.
- Develop and maintain Power BI semantic models using best practices such as star schemas and optimized DAX.
- Build and optimize DAX measures, calculations, and model performance for fast, reliable reporting.
- Partner with Data Engineering and IT teams to define data requirements and improve data quality.
- Ensure consistency of KPI definitions, business logic, and metric interpretation across the organization.
- Contribute to a structured approach for certified dashboards, KPI documentation, and reporting governance.
- Establish and maintain strong documentation for metric definitions, refresh cadence, and data lineage.
- Implement and maintain Row-Level Security (RLS) and access control structures.
- Ensure dashboards follow data handling, privacy, and compliance requirements.
- Provide production support, including troubleshooting, incident resolution, and continuous enhancement.
- Monitor and improve performance, refresh reliability, and user experience.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and self-service enablement.
- Act as a trusted partner to business leaders, supporting prioritization and roadmap discussions.
- Mentor junior BI developers and support standardization of development practices.
- Contribute to process maturity for intake, requirements definition, and delivery best practices.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, reporting, or analytics.
- 3+ years of strong hands-on experience with Power BI, including data modeling, DAX development, Power Query, and performance tuning.
- Experience gathering requirements and translating them into scalable reporting solutions.
- Strong understanding of relational data concepts and reporting design patterns like star schemas.
- Ability to work across technical and business stakeholders and communicate clearly at multiple levels.
Nice to Have
- Experience with SQL and working directly with data warehouses, lakes, or transactional systems.
- Experience with Power BI governance practices like certified datasets, workspace strategy, and deployment pipelines.
- Familiarity with enterprise platforms such as NetSuite, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Monday.com, or PSA platforms.
- Exposure to modern data platforms like Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, or Microsoft Fabric.
- Understanding of financial and operational KPIs such as revenue, gross profit, and utilization.
