We are looking for a Specialist Translator to convert complex written material from English into a target language, focusing on medical, scientific, technical, and healthcare content. Your work will preserve the original meaning while performing cultural adaptation through transcreation.
What You'll Do
- Read through original English material and rewrite it in a target language, retaining the source text's meaning.
- Perform transcreation, culturally and linguistically adapting text for the target audience.
- Use translation memory software to maintain consistency and improve efficiency.
- Utilize specialist dictionaries, thesauruses, and reference books to find accurate terminology equivalents.
- Employ appropriate software for the presentation and delivery of translated content.
- Research phraseology to ensure correct translation.
- Consult with subject matter experts in specialist areas as assigned.
- Develop and retain knowledge on specialist areas of translation.
- Review and correct machine-translated texts.
- Ensure all translations are consistent with BMS style and terminology.
- Proofread translated texts for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and formatting.
- Flag any issues discovered with the original English source material.
What We're Looking For
- Mother tongue command of the target language and fluency in English.
- A minimum of 10 years of professional translation experience.
- Proven experience working with CAT tools.
- Excellent proofreading skills.
- Excellent working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Pro.
