American Cancer Society, Inc. is hiring a Specialist, Regulatory Compliance to support the organization’s regulatory compliance and risk mitigation activities. In this remote role, you will coordinate compliance requirements across federal, state, and local jurisdictions, applying professional judgment to support filings and internal guidance.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate and administer prize winner tax compliance, including determining withholding requirements, collecting tax documentation, and preparing IRS reporting.
- Independently manage routine licenses and permits for charitable gaming and alcohol; prepare, review, and file regulatory reporting for sales and use tax, property tax, and business licenses.
- Monitor, evaluate, and maintain exemption statuses and certificates for sales and use tax, property tax, and resale activities across applicable jurisdictions.
- Interpret and apply changes in IRS, state, and local regulatory requirements and ACS policies to advise team members on compliance implications.
- Develop and maintain compliance documentation, internal controls, and reference materials to mitigate regulatory risk and support consistent procedures.
- Assist with unclaimed property filings, conduct sales and use tax reviews, handle ad hoc projects, and serve as a backup to senior consultants by independently managing assigned matters and inquiries.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, law, or a related field.
- 3 years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze regulatory requirements and determine appropriate compliance actions.
- Excellent communication and consulting skills with a strong customer-service orientation and ability to foster collaboration.
- Strong attention to detail and a contribution to quality control processes to ensure reporting accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Familiarity with ACS financial systems such as Salesforce, NetSuite, Coupa, SharePoint, Conga, and Workday.
- Strong digital literacy across various online platforms.
