Responsibilities
- Calculate laytime for all time charter and voyage relet voyages, coordinating with internal commercial managers and third-party customers.
- Negotiate laytime settlement terms based on charter party contracts, including constructing and articulating persuasive arguments during discussions.
- Escalate disputes to operations management and collaborate closely with the legal team for clarification and guidance.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure voyages close smoothly with minimal risk.
- Monitor, follow up on, and execute operational procedures across the shipping portfolio.
- Validate that transactions concluded by chartering are fully aligned with the deal checklist and shipping standard operating procedures, including vessel vetting, load and discharge port approval, external deal confirmation matching system entries, credit approval, and commercial manager approval.
- Conduct independent sanction reviews for all vessels nominated to Anglo American Shipping.
- Maintain required documentation and ensure all system data for vessels and contractual information is accurate.
- Validate bunker transactions against external deal confirmations for head of shipping approval.
- Act as compliance gatekeeper to ensure all internal and external approvals (legal, tax, DAF, joint ventures, shipping) are obtained within required timeframes before transactions are finalized and executed.
- Check and negotiate freight differentials for both equity cargo and third-party trading cargo shipments.
- Manage and advise internal commercial managers on freight differential guidance.
- Check and ensure the correct final freight rate is updated in Veslink.
- Ensure final freight invoices are issued after both laytime and freight differential are concluded.
- Monitor and track voyage closure status to ensure voyages are closed within key performance indicators.
- Maintain a daily log of all outstanding contract documentation and work with chartering to ensure contracts are completed and finalized in a timely manner.
- Obtain a weekly listing of active charters in Veson and cross-check against the contract management tool.
- Provide regular and ad hoc reporting on contract status, customer performance, service delivery, and issues related to contract administration and preparation.
- Manage and provide guidance to internal commercial managers on shipping-related clauses in their sales contracts.
- Provide operational and professional advice to commercial managers, especially for new trades or customers.
- Offer shipping expertise and assist the commodity team in resolving issues with end customers.
- Monitor and track the performance of laytime settlement for internal equity cargo.
- Monitor and track voyage closure status across the shipping portfolio.
- Track freight invoice issuance and flag any concerns.
- Comply with all Anglo Group, Anglo American Marketing, and Anglo American Shipping procedures and processes.
