Stage 3 is hiring a Solids Control Field Technician - St. John's, New Foundland

About the Role

Stage 3 is looking for a Solids Control Field Technician in St. John's, Newfoundland to enhance drilling operations and recycle drilling fluid through closed loop and other mud systems. You will oversee mechanical processes on drilling rig sites and environmental projects across Canada, operating and maintaining solids control equipment on rotational 12-hour shifts.

What You'll Do

  • Ensure all equipment and systems are operated to company standards and policies.
  • Maintain and operate solids control equipment such as centrifuges, trough & sizer, shakers, and pumps.
  • Operate all equipment and systems in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform routine maintenance on mechanical equipment as required.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment failures.
  • Operate, monitor, and control process levels, mud weights, pressures, and flows for applicable processes.
  • Ensure all required documentation/data is collected timely and accurately.
  • Collect and validate all critical data required to complete daily reports.
  • Attend and participate in safety meetings.
  • Apply safe work practices, identify/report unsafe work conditions, and eliminate safety hazards.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Set up and tear down equipment on rig site locations.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as a front loader, forklift, and/or excavator to move drilled cuttings or load trucks.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Previous field experience in the Oil and Gas industry.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
  • Willingness to travel to remote locations across Canada.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions including extreme heat or cold.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office and other computer systems.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Must be able to lift 55 pounds, walk up and down stairs/ladders frequently, stand for extended periods, and work in tight spaces.

Nice to Have

  • Dewatering and solids control experience.
  • Heavy Equipment certification (excavator, and forklift) considered an asset.
  • Active certifications from Energy Safety Canada: H2S Alive, Fall Protection and Confined Space Entry.

You will work with a team of Solids Control Field Technicians, field supervisors, engineers, and scientists, reporting to Field Leader(s).

Work Mode

This is an onsite position based in St. John's, Newfoundland, with extensive travel to various remote locations across Canada for rotational 12-hour shifts.
