About the Role
Software serves as the central nervous system connecting military objectives, astrodynamics, and spacecraft control. In this role, you will operate across the full mission software stack, solving critical technical challenges with high autonomy and accountability. You will own service domains from concept to production, shape architectural decisions, set quality standards, proactively identify problems, and lead improvements in reliability and engineering practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end development of complex distributed system features, spanning technical design, deployment, and iterative refinement across mission-critical platforms.
- Spearhead architectural advancements by implementing, prototyping, and debugging systems with a focus on technical excellence.
- Exercise high autonomy to independently detect and resolve technical challenges without explicit direction.
- Quickly gain proficiency in new subsystems, software domains, and mission architectures to ensure mission success.
- Build and enhance software used in simulation, autonomy development, mission rehearsal, and operational testing environments.
- Lead integration efforts across embedded, distributed, and cloud-connected systems.
- Deliver production-grade code in C++, Elixir, TypeScript, backend services, distributed systems, developer tools, and critical infrastructure.
- Establish code quality standards through thorough code reviews, advocacy for testing, and creation of reference implementations.
- Collaborate with software, autonomy, hardware, test, and operations teams to streamline workflows and accelerate engineering output.
- Explain complex technical systems clearly to technical staff, operators, and leadership.
- Identify long-term architectural risks and technical debt, then implement practical solutions that enhance capability without delaying delivery.
- Support high-pressure mission events, respond to anomalies, and debug operational issues with limited information.
- Mentor team members through technical reviews, debugging, and collaborative system design.
- Improve internal engineering tools, development workflows, and software practices to boost team effectiveness.
