Hopper is hiring a Software Engineering Manager - Commerce to lead a squad dedicated to high-stakes Enterprise and Corporate B2B partners. You will act as a technical steward and people multiplier for a team building complex, distributed systems handling millions of transactions, all from a 100% remote base in Mexico.
What You'll Do
- Hire, mentor, and coach a multidisciplinary squad, building a high-trust culture where engineers are empowered.
- Partner closely with product teams to translate partner needs into executable technical roadmaps.
- Ship high-quality features while managing complexities of B2B integrations and public-facing APIs.
- Lead architectural reviews, help unblock complex debugging sessions, and ensure the stack remains scalable and resilient.
- Own the 'run' of the team’s services, establishing on-call rotations and driving down technical debt strategically.
- Ensure systems meet strict SLAs required by enterprise corporate partners.
- Act as primary technical point of contact for external partners, explaining complex system constraints to non-technical stakeholders.
- Advocate for the best technical path forward, with potential travel within North America for client meetings.
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams.
- 7+ years in software development.
Nice to Have
- Experience with JVM/Scala or React.
- Experience with microservices, distributed systems, and designing robust APIs for global enterprise use.
