Activision is looking for a Software Engineer focused on gameplay to join our team. In this role as a Gameplay Engineer, you will concentrate on player mechanics including weapons and combat, movement and animation, and other player abilities. You will work collaboratively with animators, artists, and designers to help them realize a best-in-class player experience.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with designers, artists, and other gameplay engineers to design, prototype, and implement polished and exciting player experiences.
- Build and improve gameplay systems and technology, emphasizing correctness, performance, and extensibility.
- Function as part of a fast-paced team: collaborate with other engineers, artists, producers, and designers to achieve a unified vision for our project.
- Perform research to acquire new knowledge necessary to complete assigned tasks and maintain a process of technological evolution.
What We're Looking For
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in gameplay engineering or a combination of applicable training and related experience.
- Engineering contributions to at least one AAA game title or similar relevant application.
- Strong C++ programming skills, including performance analysis and optimization.
- Experience delivering AAA-quality features and experiences as part of a cross-functional team including designers, artists, animators, level designers, FX artists, etc.
- Experience working with 3D games, especially with applied 3D mathematics.
Nice to Have
- Experience and interest in character animation, movement, and/or physics.
- Experience developing gameplay mechanics in a multiplayer (client/server) architecture.
- Experience with the Unreal game engine, especially with blueprint and behavior tree scripting.
- Experience developing applications for game consoles.
