Crunchyroll is seeking a Software Engineer II to join our growing Apple video player team. You will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of our Swift video player library, taking ownership of key features that enhance the streaming experience for millions of global fans.
What You'll Do
- Contribute to the design and implementation of software solutions for mobile video player development.
- Collaborate on technical solutions that improve existing features or architectural quality, optimizing performance, scalability, and user experience.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and areas of improvement in the codebase and work with senior engineers to propose and implement solutions.
- Maintain high coding standards and follow best practices in Swift development.
- Participate in design and code reviews to ensure high-quality product delivery and architectural alignment.
- Support a culture of operational excellence through efficient and maintainable engineering practices.
- Stay updated on industry trends and mobile development technologies to help keep our video player platform competitive.
What We're Looking For
- Passion for application development and the streaming space.
- 3-5 years of industry experience developing in Swift.
- Commitment to upholding excellence in operations, delivery, and engineering practices.
- Experience developing and maintaining consumer-facing mobile applications.
- Experience working closely with product and program management to support technology roadmaps.
- Experience collaborating with senior engineers and team leads to drive mobile development initiatives.
- Ability to apply sound judgment to balance trade-offs between performance, scalability, and user experience.
Nice to Have
- Contributed to Swift solutions that serve millions of global users.
- Familiarity with multimedia frameworks and protocols like MPEG-DASH, HLS, and video streaming technologies.

You will join an international team of over 100 client engineers. The Video Player team is a growing group of international engineers and technology leaders. You will report to an Engineering Manager - Mobile Video Players.
