Axon is hiring a Senior Software Engineer II for our Real Time Operations pillar. In this role, you will be intimately involved in architecture decisions for our Vehicle Intelligence and Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) products, designing distributed systems, APIs, and full-stack services that demand high availability and fast performance. You'll collaborate closely with product managers and designers to build innovative solutions that align with our mission.
What You'll Do
- Impact the development and design of new features and initiatives.
- Lead engineering architecture design reviews.
- Set a high technical bar for the team through code and architecture design reviews.
- Mentor and coach engineers.
- Work across teams with Product, Design, and Engineering to create integrated solutions.
- Identify improvements to raise our engineering process, including long-term thinking.
- Build services that adhere to our high bar on availability and latency in this mission-critical space.
- Scale our APIs, cloud services, and ingestion pipelines.
- Work with the latest Agentic AI engineering tools like Claude, OpenAI / Codex, and Cursor.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of professional software development experience.
- Experience designing and delivering highly-available, scalable cloud-based systems.
- Backend service experience in multiple, managed languages such as Go, Java, Python, or similar.
- Experience with frontend technologies including React or Angular.
- Experience working with SQL or NoSQL data stores such as MySQL, Cassandra, or elasticsearch.
