Future plc was looking for a Social Media Editor

Future plc is hiring a Social Media Editor to transform the social media approach for its world-leading music brands. You will develop and deliver strategic social-first content, focusing on video and community building to grow and engage audiences.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and deliver social media strategies for Future's music brands.
  • Shoot, edit, and distribute social-first content across multiple platforms.
  • Maximize the potential of every story using social media and explore new storytelling formats.
  • Build communities by creating engaging posts, replying to comments, and listening to feedback.
  • Collaborate with print and online teams to produce top-quality written, graphic, and video content.
  • Help manage YouTube and all social channels, establishing best practices.
  • Create YouTube thumbnails, Instagram carousels, engagement graphics, and vertical video edits for Shorts, Instagram, and TikTok.
  • Write punchy copy for descriptions and video titles.

What We're Looking For

  • A proven track record of creating social media content and growing an audience.
  • Ability to edit and shoot video with style, flair, and a strong sense of storytelling.
  • Experience in camera operation, with an eye for good set design and composition.
  • Ability to coach and direct on-screen talent.
  • Previous writing, scripting, and editing experience.
  • Skill in writing engaging copy and compelling headlines.
  • Insightful understanding of the world of music and music-making.
  • Proficient music-making experience with understanding of gear terminology, musical technique, and history.
  • Wide-ranging taste in music.
  • Understanding of music tribes like modern rock, alternative, progressive, and classic rock, and crossover content.
  • Love of content and storytelling with ability to switch between brands and content types.
  • Proven commercial awareness and experience.

Team & Environment

You will report to the Editor in Chief (Video & Social Media, Music). You'll work closely with the Content Director, the editorial teams, and the broader Social Media team.
