This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability and scalability of an AI-powered platform serving law firms. The engineer will lead deployment processes, automate infrastructure, manage monitoring and incident response, and deeply integrate DevOps practices into engineering workflows. Success requires balancing operational rigor with rapid iteration in a high-autonomy environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily, weekly, and emergency release cycles, designing deployment workflows that are safe, repeatable, and fully observable.
- Manage GitHub collaboration standards including branching models, pull request protocols, merge rules, and automation via GitHub Actions.
- Design and maintain robust AWS infrastructure, implementing comprehensive observability through logs, metrics, and distributed tracing, and serve as first responder during incidents.
- Develop scripts, services, and automation tools to streamline deployments and increase confidence in release processes, actively using and refining AI-generated code for production use.
- Contribute directly to codebases when necessary, building internal tools or resolving deployment blockers, supported by strong software engineering fundamentals.
- Support global development velocity by working off-hours as needed to unblock offshore engineering teams.
Requirements
- 3 to 6 or more years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure roles with direct responsibility for production systems.
- Began career in software development and continues to engage in coding as part of the role.
- Proficient in Bash, Python, TypeScript, and Postgres SQL, with the ability to write and maintain scripts and services.
- Experienced operating in AWS environments, including hands-on work with EC2, Lambda, RDS, IAM, and VPC networking.
- Skilled in managing GitHub workflows, with proven experience using GitHub Actions and automating release pipelines.
- Comfortable using AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT to generate code, with the ability to evaluate, adapt, and integrate outputs into production-grade systems.
- Familiar with CI/CD principles and has ownership experience across the full deployment lifecycle.
- Willing and able to participate in on-call rotations and design systems that balance speed with operational safety.
